Job Title: Fire Alarm and Access Control Technician

Job Type: Full-time

Location: Waite Park, MN

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Fire Alarm and Access Control Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair fire alarm and access control systems. The ideal candidate will have experience working with low-voltage electrical systems and a strong understanding of fire alarm codes, security systems, and access control technology.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, program, test, and maintain fire alarm systems, access control systems, and security systems according to manufacturer and industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot and repair system malfunctions, wiring issues, and component failures.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on installed systems to ensure proper functionality.
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and wiring schematics to guide installations.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA codes, local building regulations, and safety standards.
  • Perform system upgrades and modifications based on customer needs and technological advancements.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and team members to ensure successful project completion.
  • Maintain accurate service records, documentation, and reports for all work performed.
  • Provide training and support to customers on system operation and troubleshooting.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new products, and best practices in fire alarm and security technology.

 

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in fire alarm and access control systems installation and maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of fire alarm panels, security systems, electronic access control, CCTV, and low-voltage wiring.
  • Familiarity with NFPA codes, NEC, and local fire regulations.
  • Certifications such as NICET (Fire Alarm Systems), ESA, OSHA 10/30, or manufacturer-specific certifications PLT are a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical and network-based security systems.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in various environments.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
